Rachel! I’ve missed your long musings — what a treat to read your ode to Peggy (my dad, tired of my listening to my 80s pop when I was 16, gave me a cassette of Greatest Hits and I’ve been a fan ever since (um, that’s nearly 40 years now 😳) and to the bath. We have a small Victorian house in Toronto and for the last year it has contained me, one husband, and two teenage boys pretty well 24/7. Our bathroom is the only place I can shut the door and escape (one son uses my bedroom as an office for online school. Shrug. Needs must and all that). I have always taken a nighttime bath but in this pandemic it has become — essential. I bring my phone for music. We have fairy lights all over an old mirror and I light a few candles too. A glass of red wine or preferably cold champagne in a beautiful etched coupe. Whatever book I’m reading. I use lashings of a new favourite bubble bath from Pure Home Couture (a little family-run business from Hamilton, ON; they have a White Lilac that is uncannily perfect — sweet but with a smoky tang deep down); currently Rose Garden is on rotation (red roses, yes, but also wet greenery — a lush rendition) and everyone knows not to knock on the door or ask me a question unless they are on fire. Stay safe and fragrant and please keep writing and lots of love from your fans in Canada. ♥️🇨🇦♥️

Wow I did not expect to cry about baths today or feel such kinship with that liminal space. I have been in the bathtub for much of the last 3 months and it has been so comforting. Maybe too comfortable as I’ve fallen asleep a couple of times. But I LOVE the replica scents so far and I think I’ll give this one a try. 💙
